Great Horned Owl
Also known as the hoot owl, this guy is very common around here and can be heard most clearly, early evenings in the fall when the leaves are off the trees.

Barred Owl
We had one of these owls right outside our window one night a few years ago, I understand why their call can be heard so far away!

Western Screech Owl
They say these owls don't really screech, but if you have ever been outside on a quiet night and heard one of them calling, you might tend to think of a baby crying. It is kind of spooky!

Kestrel
Kestrels are the blue jay sized bird you see mostly on the power lines overhead, usually with a mouse or snake between their feet.

Snowy Egret
We don't see too many of these around anymore. The year of the flood, we had dozens of them hanging out in the giant puddles all over the golf course.

Snow Geese
Snow geese seem to be most noticeable when they are heading south through here. You will seem them in HUGE flocks in the corn fields. If you have ever seen a flock fly up from a field, you may think of someone tossing a handful of black and white confetti in the air.
